The Irish Dance Teachers Association of Canada - Eastern Region, runs the Oireachtas annually, in the fourth quarter of the year. 

 

This event ranks dancers from across the region in team and solo events, and qualifies dancers to compete at the North American Irish Dance Championships and the World Championships in the following calendar year.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE EXECUTIVE BOARD

HOCK YOUR FROCK - THE SECOND HAND COSTUME AREA

A monitored costume room will be available to buy and sell dance costumes at the following times:

  • Thursday: 4-8pm, intake only (no shopping)

  • Friday: 10am-6pm

  • Saturday: 10am-4pm

  • Sunday: 9:30am-1pm
     

If you would like to hang a costume for sale, please complete the costume room form in advance. The first costume costs $20 and each additional costume from the same family costs $10. Only cash payment is accepted. Sellers should not leave accessories on costumes; please just list them on the form.


No food or drink, unaccompanied children or wet tanner is permitted in the costume room. Costumes may not be signed out outside of posted hours, and no browsing can take place outside of posted hours.

VOLUNTEERING
There is always a need for volunteers around the competition space.  Teachers can sign up to work stage management and awards via the link distributed directly from Debbie MacVoy.  Parents and young adults can sign up to work at Headquarters and the Hock Your Frock costume re-sale area via this link.  Please consider donating some of your time where possible.

GRADE EXAMS
The IDTAC-ER will be running grade exams from 1-12 on Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29.  The examiner is Judy McCafferty SDCRG, and registration is now closed.  All enquiries for grade exams should be directed to idtace.grades@gmail.com.

The 2022 Oireachtas is scheduled to occur at the Toronto Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, at 1 Harbour Square, Toronto, Ontario, on October 28-29-30

Fun Fact

The first Oireachtas in Eastern Canada took place at Neil McNeil High School in Toronto on November 10, 1974.  

The adjudicators were: Colleen Sheridan, Jim Shea and Roger Casey.
