The Irish Dance Teachers Association of Canada - Eastern Region, runs the Oireachtas annually, in the fourth quarter of the year.

This event ranks dancers from across the region in team and solo events, and qualifies dancers to compete at the North American Irish Dance Championships and the World Championships in the following calendar year.

The 2022 Oireachtas is scheduled to occur at the Toronto Westin Harbour Castle Hotel, at 1 Harbour Square, Toronto, Ontario, on October 28-29-30

The syllabus (see below) was uploaded during the last week of July; entries opened during the first week of August; entries (at regular rates) will close August 29, 2022.  Entries will be accepted only by registered teachers at www.quickfeis.com, however, all participating dancers must have a QuickFeis account in order for their teacher to register them.  Teachers and dance families are encouraged to avoid waiting until the last few days to get started.

The daily schedule will return to the structure used in 2019 and in prior years, which is as follows:
FRIDAY - male/female solo championships and treble reels - U15 and younger
SATURDAY - male/female solo championships and treble reels - U16 and older, plus adult teams
SUNDAY - all Premiere (including treble reel) and team events (4H/6H/8H/figure/drama)
The anticipated release date of the final timetable is Monday October 3, 2022.

The IDTAC-ER will be running grade exams from 1-12 on Friday October 28 and Saturday October 29.  The examiner is Judy McCafferty SDCRG

Registration is now closed.  All enquiries for grade exams should be directed to idtace.grades@gmail.com.

The official hotel room block opened on July 29 at noon.  Room rates are $199++ for single/double/triple/quad.  This room rate is guaranteed only until October 4, 2022 OR until the hotel block sells out.  There will be a one-night non-refundable deposit taken at the time of booking.  Should your plans change and you are no longer in need of your booking, you will have to make your own arrangements to transfer your room to another patron.  There will be no refunds on the non-refundable deposit.

August 03 Update

Guests are able to make their own reservations by calling in toll free at 1-888-627-8559 and stating that they are part of the Irish Dance Teacher’s Association of Canada (or simply quoting the group code ‘IDT’) or by using this link.

September 01 Update
The room block has sold out for Thursday and Saturday nights and is completely sold out of double rooms.  The hotel cannot offer any more rooms.  There are a few KING rooms available for Friday night and once those sell, the hotel will not be able to offer any more rooms.  It may seem early to sell out but remember that our event is much earlier, so we are right on target.

September 13 Update

Greetings from the Westin Harbour Castle Hotel!

We have some very unfortunate news to share as it relates to the upcoming Irish Dancers Convention for which you have booked a reservation for a guestroom with two double beds.

As a result of some water damage and significant pipe issues in one of our guestroom towers it is necessary for us to remove over 300 rooms from our active inventory and place these rooms out of order in order to begin a proper replacement and repair of this equipment.

This situation, which is beyond all of our control, leaves us short a significant number of rooms with two double beds so we are asking for your assistance please.

At present, due to these unfortunate circumstances, we are unable to accommodate your reservation as booked leaving us with two options to present:

-Option 1: We maintain your reservation at the Westin Harbour Castle and allocate you to a room with a king bed and a cot

-Option 2: We move your reservation to the Sheraton Center Toronto, offering a room with two double beds and return transportation daily between the Sheraton Center and the Westin

In recognition of this inconvenience, we will be extending to you a complimentary breakfast or lunch daily for up to 4 guests in our Mizzen or Marriott BonVoy points.

We would appreciate if you could kindly reply back to this email with your selected option by September 19th, Monday, it will allow the team to modify and prepare for your stay.

Our sincerest apologies for this unforeseen and uncontrollable situation.  Your experience and the success of this convention are our top priority and we realize this is a very big ask but please know that we will do everything to ensure this is a wonderful weekend and the experience seamless for you and your family.
